Title : WIMP dark matter search of the DarkSide
Abstract:
DarkSide-50 (DS-50) at Gran Sasso underground direct dark m
atter search experiment based on a Time Projection Chamber (
TPC) with liquid argon from underground sources. The DarkSid
e experiment is searching for signals especially from Weakly
Interacting Massive Particle (WIMP), which is one of the mo
st promising and well physics-motivated dark matter candidat
es.
The DarkSide experiment uses liquid argon as target materia
l for WIMP recoils. This is not standard because of radioact
ive isotope 39Ar and lighter mass of argon compared to heavy
target like xenon. The reason of the choice and philosophy
behind it will be discussed.
DS-50 has been taking data since Nov 2013, collecting 47 da
ys livetime of data with atmospheric argon. Also, recently D
S-50 commissioned low-radioactivity liquid Ar from undergrou
nd and accumulated 70 days livetime of data with it.
The first physics result from DarkSide as well as the result
with underground argon will be presented. This is the most
sensitive dark matter search preformed with an argon target.
